This optional rule applies all skills that normally cost 3 points
- By spending one point on a skill, you have a skill roll of 8 or less and cannot use skill levels to improve this.
- By spending two points on a skill, you have a skill roll of 11 or less and cannot use skill levels to improve this.
- For 3 points, you have the full version of the skill and can use skill levels to improve.
Example One: You have a PRE of 18 and want to buy Bureaucratics skill. For 1 point, you can get an 8 or less roll. For 2 points you can get an 11 or less roll. For 3 points you get a 13 or less roll (9 + (PRE/5)).
Example Two: You have one Overall skill level and want to buy Mechanics skill (normally 11 or less roll for 3 points). For 1 point, you get an 8 or less roll and cannot use your overall skill level to improve this. For 2 points, you get an 11 or less roll and cannot use your overall skill level to improve this. For 3 points, you still have an 11 or less roll, but can use your overall skill level to improve this to a 12 or less. |
