8 days travel, first 5 by Folding Boat then 3 by Tree Steed.

4 more days. The group reaches a downed tree forming a bridge over a small lake in the swamp. An attractive woman in a green dress with red hair is standing on the opposite end of the bridge. When Kalin talks to her, she tells him they must find another route and cannot cross the bridge. As this conversation is going on, the group is attacked with a Fear spell that the group resists. The group is soon in combat with a group of 4 Green Hags who have the ability to collapse into dead leaf form and fly. The group gets into a melee for a round against the one on the bridge before she retreats up into the trees. From there, the hag attack with spells that the group mostly resists (they resist all of the curses and fear spells and take some damage from fire and brimstone spells). The group causes very little damage to them, mainly from arrows from Darkthorn and Magic Missiles from Wiley. Eventually, with neither side doing much damage to the other, the hags fly off in leaf form and the group moves on.

Five days later the group is traveling through a dry section of the jungle on Tree Steeds when Darkthorn notices that general animal noises seem to be lessening. Bug noises are still plentiful. He points this out and the group stops. Wiley uses a Wizard Eye to send above the jungle canopy to look around but sees nothing untoward. The group continues forward.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

The group encounters a Mountain Wyrm almost immediately. Dyson rolls very well on his Monster Lore roll and knows that they are virtually indestructible from the outside and the way to kill one is to let yourself get swallowed whole. The group decides to flee but, in trying to go around the snake, it attacks them anyway, swallowing Dyson and Lorcan. Lorcan manages to trigger his Torrential Geyser while being swallowed and the spell is lodged in the beast's head and does double damage every round thereafter. Barthon, Darkthorn and Ori move up and allow themselves to be swallowed. Darkthorn manages to lodge himself in the head and then rolls a few critical hits while he is there before finally being sucked deeper into the monster. Lorcan put up a Solid Fog spell inside and this protected him somewhat from the acidic particles inside the beast. His Necklace of Adaption also protected him from the nauseating fumes.

GM: In game terms, everyone inside the beast took 4d6 NL damage each round due to the nauseating fumes (normal save for half) and another 4d6 lethal damage from acidic particles in the beast (normal save for half).

Meanwhile, outside the beast, Wiley and Kalin fled in different directions. The beast attacked Kalin a couple of times but barely missed.

The group inside the beast eventually killed it but did not realize it for a round or two afterwards as the interior muscles continues to spasm and move in its death throes. Barthon and Darkthorn were the first to realize it and Darkthorn began cutting a passage deeper into the beast while Barthorn began cutting his way forward. By this time, Barthon only had 3 HP remaining (though half his damage was from NL). Darkthorn first encountered Ori and she made her way out and then he encountered Barthon who managed to escape without taking any more damage. Residual fumes and acid caused a little more damage to Darkthorn, Lorcan and Dyson and then they too escaped.

The group rested and relaxed for the remainder of the day and night and, by morning, were mostly healed. They continued on their way.

The following day they came to an area that their map indicated was the beginning of the scorched forest. However, it did not looked scorched. Lorcan dug down a bit and found signs of previous scorching. Wiley racked his brain for what he remembered of the Amedo Jungle and recalled an area that would burst into flames several times a year. Those two bits of information, together with a successful Environmental Sensitivity roll, told Darkthorn that the forest was due to erupt into flame again in the next 2 to 3 days.

The group retreat and set up camp. Three days later, the forest ahead of them spontaneously erupted into flame. Even at their distance, it was hot as the forest burned for 3 days before finally extinguishing. The group waited another day to allow it to cool, aided by a rainstorm summoned by Lorcan.

Then they cross the scorched area and travel for another five days.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

Suddenly vines shoot out from the jungle and attack. Ori is surprised by the attack and a vine wraps around her. Darkthron, Kalin and Lorcan are less surprised but suffer the same fate. The following round, they are all lifted high into the air and carried forward. The vines continue to attack Barthon, Dyson and Wiley. The vines are unable to do anything to Barton due to his Ring of Free Action. The other two manage to avoid the vines for quite awhile, either by dodging out of the way or by cutting them when they do grab on but eventually they succumb. Barton uses his Arrow of Direction to determine where the original group members are and learns they are ahead in the direction the group was traveling.

A few minutes after Dyson and Wiley disappear, carried away by vines, Barthon removes his ring and allows himself to be carried away as well.

The group is carried through the air for about 30 minutes, being passed from vine to vine. Darkthorn is the first one released. He is thrown by his vine towards a hole in the ground that is surrounded by a tiled surface. The hole is in the middle of the tiled surface. Ori, Lorcan and Kalin follow. A few minutes later, Wiley and Dyson are also cast into the hole. Barthon arrives last and manages to catch the edge of the hole and not go down. He spends a few minutes searching the area and the jungle around, while nearby vines attempt to grab him. He eventually runs over and jumps into the hole.

Everyone falls for some time. Ori and Kalin fall for the least amount of time, at about 15 minutes. It is pitch dark as they fall and they do not encounter others in the group. After 15 minutes, both suddenly note that the falling sensation has ceased and there is ground under their feet. They also note that they have none of their equipment, except for a holy symbol worn by Kalin, and are dressed in buckskin clothing and moccasins. Kalin casts a Lantern spell. The two are in a partially collapsed chamber with eight alcoves, two of which contain statues of Olmani warrior demons and the remainder have finely crafted dioramas of various scenes.

Both also note that the air quality in the chamber is particularly foul and hard to breathe. Kalin is less affected (grievous save) but Ori is not and eventually suffers some damage and a -1 to CON.

As they are searching the chamber for secret doors, Lorcan and Dyson suddenly appear. They are dressed in similar fashion as Kalin and Ori, and have also lost most of their gear. The only exception is that Dyson is holding a bird skull that he recognizes as one of the magic items he had been carrying - an invested item with a Sphere of Fresh Air spell embedded in it. He loses no time in triggering the spell.

Kalin and Ori bring them up to date on what they found. Dyson is particularly interested in a diorama that showed a priest holding a fire mace. He reaches into the diorama to see if the mace will come loose from the figure - and is teleported into the diorama, which suddenly comes alive. The rest of the group watches as Dyson appears at the bottom of a pyramid behind a number of worshippers who are waiting their turn to make an offering at the altar at the top of the pyramid where the priest stands watching. Dyson reaches the top, bows to the altar and then heads back down but is unable to escape the pyramid. He heads back up as Barthon appears behind him (Barthon reached in and touched the diorama). Dyson tries to move past the priest but the priest attacks him. Barthon joins in and then Ori also enters the diorama and joins the battle. Lorcan is the last to enter and he casts a Torrential Geyser. The group notes that the priest seems to be getting tougher with each person who enters the diorama. However, the group defeats him and he falls to the floor, dropping the mace. Dyson picks up the mace and the entire group is teleported out of the diorama. Dyson is holding the Fire Mace.

Darkthorn and Wiley have not yet appeared in the chamber.

KALIN: Weapon Lore [rolled 91, NEAR SUCCESS - You know the name of the item, if applicable, but nothing more]

GM: Kalin recalls that it is called a Fire Mace that that is all that he remembers.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.
