The female, demonic voice spoke up and said, "You have killed my pretties. Now I will need to spend all night reconstituting them." However, it made no move to attack. The group moved back to dry ground and, while Darkthorn and Dyson used First Aid, Lorcan spent the time using the blood of the grimslugs to coat the non-magical weapons and make them magical. He managed to coat them all, including the 20 arrows, but used all of the grimslugs. Kalin and Darkthorn used some of their magical healing getting most people down so that they were in the range of 25-30 points of damage each.

The group finally crossed the room. They had to swim the last 30 feet as the floor dropped away to a depth of about 20 feet. Stairs led out of the water. At the top of the stairs, the group saw 5 vials of holy water and a small pouch that they had found in the Aerie of the Crow God, containing 5 packets of powder that could be mixed with holy water to create a potion identical to a Cure Critical Wounds spell. They used 3 of them immediately on Dyson, Kalin and Ori.

TheY followed the passage around to another door but, when Darkthorn went to open it, the double doors flew open and a wall of water crashed down the passage. Darkthorn, Kalin and Barthon managed to anchor themselves while the rest of the group was swept back to the room they had just exited, dropping their weapons. Wiley was scrapped up a bit and took a little damage. Lorcan spent some time swimming down and retrieving the dropped weapons.

The group found a couple more skill challenges and regained some items, including the Bag of Holding, though it was empty.

Then they returned to the door where they had previously heard singing. They open it and see a mostly nude woman singing on the beach. She sees them, shrieks, and dives into the water, surfacing some distance away. She had tried to grab her white shawl as she fled but didn't manage to get hold of it and it was left behind on the beach. Kalin went to the shore and tried to talk to her. She asked him to toss her shawl to her. When Lorcan entered, he identified the woman as possibly being a Nereid. They are chaotic in nature. Some are evil, some are good and many are somewhere in between. Their souls are locked into the shawl and destruction of the shawl will kill the nereid. Lorcan told Kalin to pick up the shawl. Kalin did so and began interrogating the woman. She answered a couple questions while continuing to ask for her shawl. Finally she had enough and said, "No! I'm not going to just stay here and answer your questions while you do nothing for me. I want my shawl back!"

GM: As the group was interacting with the woman, the judge appeared, floating above the water in the corner, and observed the proceedings.

Kalin and Lorcan conferred in whispers for a bit and Kalin decided that he would return her shawl. Lorcan started to suggest that he elicit a promise from her regarding safe crossing until he remembered their chaotic nature and thus, their low likelihood of honoring any promises made. Kalin returns to the shore and tosses her shawl to her. Once she has it back, she answers his questions willingly. She admits that she has a pet eel, gigantic in nature. She also tells them where the opposite door goes. She group asked if she would let them swim to other end. She agreed and added that she would be even more impressed if they swim there entirely underwater, holding their breath the entire time. The judge seems to perk up at this and the group takes it as a challenge.

Barthon immediately rises to the challenge and jumps in the water, only to quickly discover that he is not able to breath under this water, which Lorcan noted had traces of magic running through it. He would have to hold his breath like anyone else and he is not as good at holding his breath as some others in the group though he swims faster underwater than anyone else. The group conferred and determined that Kalin and Darkthorn were best at holding their breath and the two of them tried. Swimming speed was not part of the challenge as currents and perhaps magic inhibited their movement somewhat. Darkthorn made it the entire distance underwater while Kalin made it most of the way but could not force himself to finish without surfacing (he failed a CON roll, used a Luck point, and failed again). Basically you needed to stay under for 3.5 minutes. Kalin could stay under for 3.2 minutes but failed to push himself for the extra few seconds he needed. The judge had been floating above the water as they swam and, at the end, gave Darkthorn back his Death Axe but he called it a Life Axe and indicated that it had changed. It was similar to before except that when Darkthorn killed an opponent, instead of being healed automatically, he could designate someone nearby to be healed instead.

GM: Note that Darkthorn had to permanently give up his Pendant of Masterful Healing for the improvement.

There is a skill challenge at the top of the stairs and Darkthorn and Kalin note the challenges before returning to the beach. The woman has started singing and, sensing a possible challenge possibility, Kalin joins in. When the song ends, the judge gives Kalin a couple of his potions.

Having learned from the nereid that the other door leads to a passage that leads to the room with the giant hermit crab, but also contains a skill challenge, the group heads that way. Lorcan completes the skill challenge (Area Lore - Greyhawk City) and earns back his Ring of Magical Renewal.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

The group continues exploring the dungeon. The complete additional skill challenges and Lorcan finds a "spooky" section so the group goes a different way. They find a rubble-strewn chamber where they are attacked by fire beetles. The beetles are not that difficult to kill though they have a protection of 8. However, when they die, they explode into a small fireball, as Barthon, Darkthorn and Lorcan learn the hard way.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

08/20/2020 (GM-Steve)

The group continues to battle the exploding fire beetles. Lorcan determines that when they become very badly injured, they run away so the group fights them until they become very badly wounded and run away. A couple more are accidentally killed, resulting in small fireballs.

The group retreats to the passage and performs first aid. On their way out, both Dyson and Darkthorn noticed a skill challenge grid tucked away in a corner of the room so when the first aid is complete, they return and complete the skill challenge (Darkthorn successfully completes an Orcish language challenge). The group then departs though the southern door. They find another skill challenge but they also see an open door at the end of the hall. They look into the room and see two mummified humans lying on stone divans with a small table between them containing a glass decanter half filled with a silvery dust and a pair of empty crystal wine glasses. They decide to do the skill challenge first (Darkthorn successfully - and with a high degree of luck - completes a Cultural Lore Pomarj challenge).

When they enter the room, they note that the female corpse is holding a magical wand and wearing a magical bracer. The male corpse is wearing an amulet shaped vaguely like some sort of jungle cat with a red gem in the forehead. Lorcan recognizes the wand as a Wand of Air at about the same time that the group's last Sphere of Fresh Air comes to an end, leaving everyone except Lorcan (he has an Necklace of Adaption) breathing the foul air of the dungeon.

Lorcan attempts to take the wand but the corpse suddenly wakes up, flowing smoothly to her feet and standing on the divan. Only Kalin is able to understand her and the conversation is overtly hostile. Eventually the woman attacks Lorcan with martial arts at the same time as the other corpse wakes up and attacks Barthon. The two martial artists get three attacks on the group before anyone else can attack and only Darkthorn lands a successful blow on them. Halfway through the round, Barthon drops his weapon and puts his hands in the air in surrender. Lorcan, now away from combat and watching, sees that the group has little chance of defeating the two and says they should surrender. The fight stops and Kalin resumes his conversation. He makes it known that the group would like the Wand of Air. Eventually she agrees to trade it to the group for the Obsidian Sword and the Potion of the Deep.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

The group continued to investigate the platform. By lifting up on one end of the walkway, they noticed that the floor at the far end sank a bit. After some more investigation, Wiley casts Levitation on Ori and she steps onto the platform. Nothing happens. Then Barthon steps on and a few things happen. First, the floor sinks rapidly. Second, the long walkway pivots up towards the ceiling, now forming a partial wall blocking part of the now sunken room. Third, strong bars rise out of the floor on either side of the walkway and barricade the rest of the room on either side of the walkway trapping Ori and Barthon inside. And fourth, the silver coffer flies up and out of the cage, turning sideways to fit through the bars. It flies down the passage and turns right at the next intersection. Dyson and Kalin follow it for a time but eventually let it go since they don't want to get too far away from the rest of the group. The coffer was flying 25 feet up near the ceiling.

The group turns their attention to the trapped party members and how to free them. They try prying the walkway back down but it doesn't give. The bars are too think to bend and too closely spaced to fit through. Finally Barton searches the pedestal that the coffer had been resting on and notices a secret panel. Opening it reveals a keyhole. It is on the back of the pedestal so Wiley, who has a Spell of Opening, can't see it. Nevertheless, the casts a Spell of Opening, using Sorcery skill to allow him to target something within range but that he can't see. It works and the floor ascends, the bars go back down and the walkway pivots back down to again become a walkway.

At that time, Darkthorn also sees the silver coffer fly by the intersection down the hall. The group runs after it and Ori uses the Levitation spell to intercept it and grab a hold of the coffer. The coffer stops flying and she carries back down to the floor. Inside is a silver key that probably fits the lock the Wiley opened with his spell. Also inside are 7 small vials, each containing what appears to be sugar that has a slight greenish color. Wiley and Lorcan, both alchemists, recognize it as something that should be mixed with a magical liquid to produce an effect but can't remember more.

GM: Lorcan had near success and can make another roll later.

The group stashes the coffer and its contents into the bag of holding and continues exploring. They find a challenge grid and Dyson has some success with a First Aid challenge. The next room contains ranks of what were once terra cotta warriors but they have broken and crumbled. It is a very large, irregular room with another room inside it. They also find another challenge grid and Wiley as some success with Mercenary Lore.

They open the door to the other room and find a crypt with six sarcophagi standing open and each holding mummified bodies. The last one also has a magical short sword that Lorcan recognizes as a weapon known as Blood Drinker that causes bleeding wounds. He is also wearing an amulet. No one identifies it specifically but recall that it is something that benefits only undead.

As Wiley is heading back out to watch the rear, the heavy bronze door starts to slam shut. Wiley tries to get out but ends up getting slammed in the doorway for 27 damage. He is stunned for the round as five of the six mummified remains begin to stir. Barthon plunges his sword into the near mummy but it was not one that was stirring. He severely damages the body.

Ori attacks with martial arts and is drained of CON in the process. Kalin and Lorcan are also drained when the creatures attack them. The one with the sword uses it and attacks Darkthorn. He hits once causing a bleeding wound.

Kalin attempts to turn the undead and, after using a Luck point, succeeds in turning three of the five. The main one with the sword and the one attacking Lorcan are not turned.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

09/03/2020 (GM-Steve)

The group continues battling the wight armed with a short sword called Blood Drencher and one other normal wight. The remaining wights were turned. Lorcan, Kalin, Ori and Barthon are all drained by the normal wights over the course of the battle. Darkthorn goes down bleeding at 5 points per round. Kalin is able to cast a Cure Critical Wounds on him to keep him from dying. The wight continues to battle Dyson and Barthon, causing bleeding wounds to both over the course of the battle until Dyson finally gets in a killing blow. Then, as the body of the wight collapses, the head detachs and rises towards the ceiling where it begins shooting magic missiles as Ori attacks it with Distant Death. Kalin also joins in with a Spiritual Weapon but the group has no other ranged attacks (Darkthorn is down and has the group's only bow and arrows in his Brace of Combat). Barthon uses acrobatics and swashbuckler ability to leap high in the air and hits the head once but it is Ori and Kalin who finally defeat it and cause the head to crash to the ground.

The judge has been watching the battle and each person is allowed a roll on the skill challenge table. Everyone recovers some of their gear.

They quickly search the wight, taking his amulet, Blood Drencher (which Wiley takes) and a pouch containing some more vials of crystals, these ones of a different hue than the previous ones found in the silver coffer. Lorcan is still unsure as to what they are.

After some first aid and healing, the group moves on. They find another skill challenge grid with Jeweler, Low Sindathul and Blacksmith skills represented. No one in the group is very good with any of these so they pass on it for now though Dyson expresses and interest in using the Tome of Infinite Lore to brush up on Jeweler skill and come back and take that challenge.

Then they come to a large block of stone that blocks the passage. Through a narrow gap, they can see another passage heading off at right angles on one side of the block. They consider using the pick to try to make a gap but decide to try to push it first. They discover that it push forward with relative (it still requires everyone to push) ease but stops after about 5 feet. This is enough to get into the side corridor but the group decides to try to keep pushing. They discover that the block will continue to move but upwards along an inclined plane. Thus, if they let go, it will come crashing back. Nevertheless, they push it forward up the incline and it eventually levels out to where they can take a breather. It looks like it will start up another incline when they get back to it but they decide to investigate the side passage first. It contains a skill challenge with Start Fire, Courtesan and Scouting. Both Darkthorn and Kalin express an interest but Kalin ends up doing the skill challenge for Courtesan and earns enough points to recover another item, improved but at a losss of other magic. He chooses to get his +1 Shield back, improved to +2 but at a loss of the Candelabrum of Mystic Flame and his +1 Helm.

The group eventually gets the block of stone pushed all the way to the top of multiple staircases and into a flat area where another passage goes around it. The group has had a very long day, everyone is injure and they are low on spell points. They decide to rest in the corridor for the night. They have no food or blankets but they do what they can.

GM: Lorcan was finally able to remember what the crystal are for. They can be mixed with less desirable magical potions to turn them into something else. The first 7 crystals are called Crystals of Healing and can be mixed with magical potions to turn them into minor healing potions (heals 2d6r2). He identifies the other 5 crystals as Crystals of Positive Energy that can turn magical potions into a minor potion of restoration.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.

09/10/2020 (GM-Steve)

After spending the night, the Kalin and Darkthorn change their spells and then do some healing. Then the group heads back down the stairs to the skill challenge to allow Dyson to attempt the Jeweler challenge. He only gets 1 of the 5 multiple choice questions right but successfully fixes an item of jewelry that the judge hands to him and ends up with 6 points. With a saved point it is enough to get back his Boots of Speed.

Dyson is feeling nauseous after the foul air so the group heads back up the stairs and rests for about 20 minutes. Then they put up another Bubble of Air from the Wand of Air and head back down the stairs to investigate the hallway with the mummified remains on display like undead statues. Lorcan detects something off about them and, when the group is in the middle of them, half of the mummified remains activate and shoot magic missiles at them. They are Juju Zombies. Kalin turns four of them and the group defeats the remaining three. They see a skill challenge nearby but decide to chase after the turned zombies. They lose their trail after a short run and return to the skill challenge. Ori performs the skill challenge for Area Lore - Deep Port and gets back her backpack and all non-magical items, excluding her coin purse.

The group heads back to the room where they encountered the fire beetles. Dyson unlocks the door with his recently acquired thieve's tools and reveals stairs leading up. At the top, the passage turns a corner into a room filled with mold and fungus and toppled and broken statues. Darkthorn is able to make out a spherical form floating deeper into the room that might be a beholder of some type but could also be a gas spore. Darkthorn uses his recently returned Longbow of Infinite Arrows to shoot it. It explodes as a gas spore and is far enough away that the group does not need to be worried about being caught in the explosion and breathing the deadly spores. At about this time, the Bubble of Air expires.

GM: This is where we left off. The group is not sure how long the gas spores will remain in the air so they are not sure if it is safe to cross the room. They could put up another Bubble of Air to walk through.

GM: This is where we stopped for the night.
