This ritual records a "back up" of the telepath's memory record - an instantaneous "snapshot" of his memory at the moment the discipline is used - and stores it safely in some unused portion of the telepath's mind. (This is exactly analogous to making a back-up of a computer's hard disk, and storing that back-up in a safe place.) The back-up cannot be altered or erased. Thus, a Forget spell might clip a few minutes out of the telepath's "true" memory record; Discipline of Mental Erasure might delete huge portions of it; a particularly nasty backfire might destroy the entire record, but the back-up isn't affected in any way. As long as the telepath still retains his psionic abilities and his knowledge of how to retrieve the back-up, he may "restore" his "true" memory record at any time. This ritual takes 1 hour to perform.
At rank 20, the telepath may use this ritual on other willing subjects. |
