This discipline allows the Telepath to mentally monitor how his behavior and speech is affecting another, and modify his approach to make the subject more comfortable…and more gullible. In game terms, this discipline increases the Telepath’s Charisma attribute by 1 per 3 ranks with this discipline (+1 at ranks 1 to 3, +2 at ranks 4 to 6, up to +8 at rank 22).
For non-critical interactions, the GM should not allow a saving throw. For example, if the telepath is bartering for a normal item in the local market, he should be given the benefit of the higher Charisma without giving the target a saving throw. For critical interactions, or interactions with significant NPC's, the target is allowed a mental save at -15. If the telepath attempts to manipulate someone into doing something potentially harmful, the target is allowed a mental save at +5. In either case, if the save is made, the telepath not only loses the benefits of this discipline, his Charisma is reduced by 1d6 for remainder of the encounter with the target who saved.
This discipline requires moderate concentration to use and maintain. The telepath can change targets as often as desired for as long as he maintains the discipline. |
