Description |
Templemore Ponies are native to the Templemore Plains at the south end of the island of Carse. Price could be higher if sold in areas far removed from their native area.
Usual height: 14 hands
Usual weight: 500 to 700 pounds
Main characteristics: A large head with large eyes; a short neck and short back; curving hindquarters; a short, silky mane and tail.
This pony has short, stout legs.
Templemores can be of any color, including gray, brown or black. They are most often dark brown or black with white markings.
Note: 1 "hand" = 4 inches. Horses and ponies are measured at the withers (the ridge between the shoulder bones). Ponies measure under 14.2 hands when fully grown. Horses stand over 14.2 hands when fully grown. |

Comments |
Weight Allowance
Full Speed: 180 lbs (30 miles per day)
Half Speed: 250 lbs (15 miles per day)
Quarter Speed: 300 lbs (8 miles per day)
Horses spend a lot of time grazing and eating. Thus, a heavily burdened horse moving at quarter speed, is spending a lot of time resting and grazing throughout the day and not a lot of time on the road. |
