Survival
The character is adept at surviving in the wilderness. They can find food and construct shelters out of native materials. If the character is new to a particular environment, then it will take some time for him to be able to apply his skill to the new environment. For example, if the character has never been in an arctic environment before, then it will take some time before he will get his full survival bonus in the arctic environment. Exactly how long is up to the GM.

The character's bonus to construct a shelter is (((DEX + KNOW) - 30) x 1.5) + (Rank x 5).
The character's bonus to find food (forage) is (((PER + KNOW) - 30) x 1.5) + (Rank x 5). See Plant & Herb Lore skill to resolve.
The character's bonus to start a fire is (KNOW - 15) x 3) + (Rank x 5).

The character is also much better at enduring the hardships of the various outdoor environments, including the high altitudes of the mountains, the hot and muggy conditions of a swamp, the heat of the desert, and so forth. Their bonus for "environmental endurance" is ((CON - 15) x 3) + (Rank x 5).

Survival skill also includes the ability to improvise or otherwise make use of available materials to help survive. For example, using a sharp rock to skin an animal and use its hide to keep warm or make a simple trap to catch a small animal to use for food. Bonus is ((INT - 15) x 3) + (Rank x 5).

Plant and Animal Lore skills are complimentary to this skill.
