A thief can choose one of the following specialization options
  • Double Specialize in Dagger
  • Double Specialize in Blackjack
  • Single Specialize in both Dagger and Blackjack
  • Single Specialize in Short Sword
  • Sing Specialize in Bows (elven thieves only)

A blackjack specialist has a chance of knocking out an opponent who is not wearing a helm (or otherwise has 0 protection in the head) if they can sneak up on the unaware. This chance is equal to 5% per rank for a specialist or 6% per rank for a double specialist. The thief also does normal damage. The target will be remain unconscious for 1d6+rank rounds.

For example, a rank 8 (single) specialist with blackjack has a 40% chance of knocking out his opponent and, if successful, the opponent will be out for 1d6+8 rounds.

Note that the thief must hit his opponent to have a chance of knocking him out.
