Rule Category:Combat
Rule Name:Close Quarters Combat
There may be times when the group finds itself fighting in extremely tight quarters, at which time the GM will declare that Close Quarters Combat rules apply. This will usually be in a very narrow tunnel but could also happen when there are so many people that there is not room to swing a weapon. In such cases, compare the weapon, shield and backpack worn to the table below to determine modifiers and effectiveness.

* Large Shields cannot be used. If the shield is between the wielder and the attacker, the GM will allow for a straight +20 to defense, regardless of shield rank, but this also hampers the wielder and they suffer a -20 to their strike chance (in addition to any other modifiers for weapon size).

Spells
Close quarters combat can also affect spells. "Bolt" type spells require a direct line between the caster and the target. In Close Quarters, if there are others between the caster and the desired target, each must make a LUCK save to avoid the bolt. If the bolt hits them, and the spell normally allows a save, they are still entitled to the save. If everyone between the caster and the desired target make their LUCK save, the spell resolves normally.
