BBMY 21,000
The Second Age of Man”. Civilized man once again inhabits Putarrha. The humans (called Jarin by the elves) settle the central desert of the continent and found the city of Bhraithairain. The elves know little of the origin of the Jarin but believe that they too came from another world that had been conquered by the the Gith. Their resemblance to the barely intelligent primates of Putarrha is no greater than elven similarities. The two races form an alliance and dedicate themselves to ridding the world of all remaining outposts of the evil Gith.

BBMY 20,000
The War of the Spirit Masters”. The elven followers of Lloth declare war on their fair-skinned brothers. They are finally defeated and driven from the face of Eilan in the “Battle of the Soul Gems”. Elven domination of Putarrha is broken by the devastating way and they fall into barbarism. The Jarin civilization is not untouched by the war, but does not sink as low. Their extremely low birth rate keeps the Jarin from expanding their civilization.

BBMY 14,000
A Drow elf, later known as the Shadow Lord, inhabits the legendary island of Circe to prepare and army of the dead to march against and defeat the fair-skinned elves of the upper world. He is defeated after conquering the fair city of Emladistar. The island of Circe becomes a symbol of evil and is shunned and feared by all.

BBMY 11,000
Dwarves first appear in Putarrha. Little is known of their origin, but it is widely suspected that they were created by the gods.

BBMY 3,000
The beginning of the “The Ascent of Man”, also called the Third Age of Man. Primates have evolved from animals to tool-users. Over the course of the next few thousand years, many of these primates evolve even further, stepping from barbarianism to civilization. This step in evolution is aided in the Yrmen desert by the Jarin who have discovered that they are much more likely to have offspring if they mate with these barbarians who are almost indistinguisable from the Jarin. Over time, they also discover that their offspring are not immortal as are the true Jarin. Oriental civilizations also begin to evolve.

BBMY 2,000
The Koton Wars”. An elf named Koton goes to the legendary island of Circe to study the evil engines of war rumoured to be there. He is corrupted by them and amasses an army to lead against the elves and fledgling human civilizations. The war is long and brutal but he is finally defeated by an alliance of elves, dwarves and Jarin.

The Sword Wars”. One hundred years later, Pwatok, son of Koton, attempts another insurgence against the elves and dwarves. In his fortress on the island of Circe, he developes a sword of great power. After another long and bloody struggle, he too is defeated when he meets the elven princess Myrlani in single combat. His sword is destroyed but his body is never recovered. It is rumoured that he still lives yet today. Myrlani too, disappeared at the climatic finish of the duel.

BBMY 700
The Duang Empire”. Relis Duang of the Risiki Clan on Alphar Island in the Western Ocean rises to dominance. With a combination of brilliant diplomacy and equally astounding military victories, Relis unites the clans of the Western Ocean and extends his rule over much of western Putarrha. His forces reach as far as Bhraithairain itself, but do not succeed in conquering it. He dies 40 years later, but his empire endures for three centuries, his legacy carried on by his sons and grandsons.

BBMY 400
The Fall of the Duang Empire”. The far-flung elements of the empire slowly gain (or force) autonomy. The central government of the empire cannot prevent the slow corrosion of the empire. It eventually collapses as local rulers rise and take control.

BMY 0
The city of Blue Mountain is founded by a plains tribe fleeing from orcs. Legends also tell of a “God’s War” in which Ulogi Riven-Sire slays his father. Many people consider this date to be the true beginning of the “Third Age of Man”.

BMY 34
The only known pass through the towering Beadoec range is closed by an apocalyptic battle between the forces of Set and Mitra.

BMY 263
The “Dragons of Doom” lay waste to much of northeastern Putarrha. They are finally defeated by a company of men, elves and dwarves led by a human named Aradomas of the Shadowed Plain.

BMY 438
The Baronry of Parderaan is established.

BMY 528
The Baronry of Parderaan becomes the Kingdom of Parderaan after a civil war with Herigund. A young man named Cuthbert turns the tide of the final battle in favor of Parderaan when he slays six fearsome demons with a simple cudgel. Although the boy loses his life in the battle, he is quickly recognized as a saint and canonized in the religion of Mitra. King Sagramour of the Gilded Fen becomes the ruling monarch of the kingdom.

BMY 613
The Spider Wars”. Parderaan is invaded by an army of spiders. The invasion is crushed when they learn of the source of the attack; a race known as the Chagmat, a subject race of the Drow.

BMY 631
An assassin named Mykel is smitten by the woman he is contracted to kill. He renounces his evil ways and, to save the princess from certain death, he kidnaps her. Neither are ever heard from or seen again.

BMY 636
An evil god is awakened from his long sleep. He had been banished by the other gods and, with his awakening, they seal Eilan to its own fate. All contact with the gods is severed so that the awakened god cannot leave Eilan. The god, who becomes known among the peoples of Eilan as Count Strahd von Zarovich, attains power in Serbia and then goes on to spread his evil influence across the known world.

BMY 650
Count Strahd vanishes suddenly. The seal of Eilan is severed and contact with the gods is re-established. Legends speak of heros from another realm breaking the god’s seal and releasing Count Strahd.

BMY 655
