Blue Mountain
Werewolf
Rule Category:Werewolf
Rule Name:Auspices
There are five werewolf auspices. The werewolf's auspice represent the phase of the moon under which they were born. The werewolf's auspice will determine many of their intrinsic strengths and weaknesses.

Ragabash - the Trickster (new moon)
The penultimate outsiders, the children of the new moon never manage to fit in. Some say that it is a result of their inability to follow the rules of others, but the truth goes much deeper than that. It is because they do not understand or comprehend the purpose of the rules that they do not follow them.

The Ragabash is never fully trusted or understood, but is always accepted, albeit grudgingly. Strange things are expected of them, but never appreciated - the pranks don't help much. Not all Ragabashes are criminals, but they are all more than a little mischievous and bizarre. The tricksters never go with the flow - rather, their role is to reverse it.
  • Starting Rage: 1
  • +3 DEX
  • +2 INT
    Ragabash Gifts
    • Scent of Running Water - Spend Gnosis to mask scent and make it difficult to track by smell.
    • Blur of the Milky Eye - Spend Gnosis so that others suffer a penalty to their PER rolls to notice him.
    • Open the Way Forward - Spend Gnosis to gain a bonus to Open Locks, Find Traps and Remove Traps (at high level, opens a single lock or removes a single trap?).
    • Walking Unseen - Spend Gnosis to travel unnoticed (exactly as the spell of the same name).
    • Taking the Forgotten - Spend Gnosis so that target will forget he ever possessed the item stolen by the character (within reason).

Theurge - the Seer (cresent moon)
Exploring the baths of the spirit, the children of the crescent moon are the visionaries among the Garou. None know the perils of this world as well as they do. None understand the other powers as well as they do. None are as attuned to the spirit world as they are, and certainly none have mastered it as have the Theurges. Those of this auspice are the guides to this world and the next - the others would be lost without them and must never forget who are the thinkers, the planners and the guides to the spirit realm.
  • Starting Rage: 2
  • +1 INT
  • +2 KNOW
  • +1 MA
    Theurge Gifts
    • Sense Wyrm - Spend Gnosis to Detect Undead and Demons.
    • Spirit Speech - Spend Gnosis to be able to speak with spirits, including demons.
    • Binding the Open Wounds - Spend Gnosis to heal wounds. Starts as equivalent to CLW and moves up to CSW, CCW and Heal at highest level. This power can only be used on others, never on himself.
    • Dreams of Premonition - Spend Gnosis before going to sleep to possibly gain a premonition regarding a planned course of action. Requires 4 hours of sleep to gain the premonition. No Gnosis is regained while under the effect of Dreams of Premonition.
    • Command Spirit - Spend Gnosis to issue a single command to a spirit, including intelligent undead and elementals. Level with this gift determines the types of creatures that can be given commands. At low level, only weak elementals, weak demons, etc., can be affected.
    • Spirit Drain - An attack ability that can be used against elementals, demons, devils, and intelligent undead. Damage and range are based on level. Costs Gnosis each time it is used.
    • Armor of Sorcery - Spend Gnosis to gain a bonus to all Magic Saves.

Philodox - the Philosopher (half moon)
Philodoxes are the mediators of the Garou, and are the masters of achiving the balance. They are the balance between human and wolf, between Rage and Gnosis, between hate and love. They are often called upon to mediate disputes between different factions of the Garou. They usually use their positions honorably, always trying to do what is best for the tribe as a whole.

Half Moons are very spiritually oriented, due in part to their delicate balance between man and wolf, and generally have Gnosis higher than Rage at their creation. They believe that they represent the perfect balance of man and wolf, and that other breeds should be allowed to do as they will, as long as it does not harm the Garou as a whole. While the Philordoxes' decisions as judges are final and honored by all, they do not pass judgment unless asked.

They represet the best qualities among Garou. however, their reluctance to meddle directly in the affairs of others keeps them from becoming overly dominant in tribal affairs. Half Moons often see all other breeds as fragmented persons. They do not look down on them, but pity them.

  • Starting Rage: 3
  • +3 WP

    • Strength of Purpose - Bonus to die rolls for actions that help further a specific purpose defined by the werewolf (kind of like a self-imposed Geas or Quest).
    • Scent of Beyond - Spend Gnosis to bring all senses to bear on a single location with which the werewolf is familiar (within range). Works very similar to clairvoyance except all senses are affected.
    • Voice of Command - Works very similar to a Command spell. Costs Gnosis to use.
    • Geas - Spend Gnosis to place a Geas on someone (Gnosis doesn't return until Geas is lifted or fulfilled?).

Galliard - the Moon Dancer (gibbous moon)
Those werewolves born under the gibbous moon are known as the Moon Dancers, and they are the creators, the artists, and the singers of new songs.

Those of this breed who are born under the waning moon are said to be oriented toward the darkness within them, and are more likely to sing the songs of war and chaos, while those of the waxing moon are oriented toward happiness and joy.

Their mode of thought is spontaneous, intuitive, and relies much more on inspiration than rigorous learning.
