Rule Name:Starting Edge
Everyone can start with one "edge" from the following list. No two players can start with the same edge.
  • +2 Weapon - The character has a magical weapon that has been given to him by his family or a mentor. As the game progresses, the weapon may become more magical.
  • Natural Linguist - The character is good with languages. Linguist skill can be learned at .75 multiple. The EXP multiple for all languages is .6.
  • Immortal - There is something in your blood that prevents you from aging. This cannot be taken by an elf.
  • +2 to one stat (25 max)
  • +1 to one stat (26 max)
  • Bracers of Protection 4 - A protective magic item given to him by family or mentor. As the game progresses, the bracers may become more magical.
  • A magical tattoo of a weapon. The character can cause the tattoo to become a real weapon at will or cause the weapon to become a tatoo again (both take one round). The tatoo is half the size of the real weapon. If you want something other than a dagger or short sword, talk to the GM. Initially the weapon is treated as a +0 magical weapon.
  • Staff of the Magus - GM has details. At beginning of the game, it will function as a +1 magical weapon and may have minor magical functions that require spell points to activate. Additional properties may manifest as the game develops.
  • Haversack of Holding - Holds up to 100 lbs in main compartment, and 25 lbs in each of two side pockets. It can be carried into an extra-dimensional space without the usual problems. When full (150 lbs) it weighs only 15 lbs.
  • Let me know if you have other ideas of a starting "edge" that you want for your character.

After you choose your edge, the GM can make the necessary modifications so that they are reflected in your online character sheet, if applicable.

Note that if you start with a magic item "edge" you will never permanently lose that magic item. If the group is captured and all of their items are taken from them, something will happen that will allow the character to recover their starting magic item. It may not happened immediately, but it will happen eventually.
