Rule Category:Combat
Rule Name:Missile Weapons
Missile Weapons have three ranges: Minimum, Point Blank, and Ranged.

Minimum Range
The minimum range at which a target can be attacked. For most weapons, minimum range is 0. Catapults and some other weapons can't be targeted at someone who is at less than minimum range.

Point Blank Range
Attacks against targets within point blank range are made with no modifier for range. Thus, if a weapon has a PB range of 25 feet, then there is no modifier for attacking a target who is 25 feet away or less.

Ranged
Attacks against targets who are outside PB range suffer range penalties. A range penalty is defined as "-X per X feet". For example, if a weapon has a PB range of 25 feet, and then a Ranged penalty of -1 per 2 feet, then the attacker suffers a range penalty of -1 for every 2 feet of range beyond 25 feet (round up). So if the target is 28 feet away, then he is 3 feet beyond PB range and the attacker suffers a -2 penalty to his Strike Chance to hit him. If the target is 50 feet away, then the attacker suffers a -13 to his SC ((50 - 25) / 2).

Magic Weapon Required to Hit
Note that if magic weapons are required to hit a creature, a magic bow or crossbow alone will not usually suffice. It is the arrow or bolt that must be magical. Some magic bows or crossbows may instill magic into the arrows and bolts that are fired but that property will be noted under the description of the magic bow or crossbow.
