As Tyra and Lani lead the way into the crowded tavern, they see a very large establishment divided into sections. All of the workers appear to be busty women wearing long skirts and blouses of durable but well crafted design. This includes the bartenders and the cooks occasionally visible through the constantly opening and closing doors leading to the back. There are easily 200 or more customers in the tavern generally in groups of 5 to 15. Most are wearing very strange clothing and armed with equally exotic weapons. A couple of steps lead down to a large tavern section to the right with 50 or so patrons. A narrow passage leads ahead to what appears to be a smaller and more intimate tavern section with fewer patrons. A couple more passages lead to other small tavern sections. To the left is the main tavern area with the bar running all the way along the far wall and dozens of tables between the entrance and the bar. As with the section to the right, most tables are inhabited by a minimum of 5 people dressed in like fashion who are obviously together. Many are talking amongst themselves but also looking around in wonder and the varied clientele of this most unusual establishment.

As Tyra and Lani are surveying the bar, and the rest of the group is filing in through the door, the two see a familiar face. Seated at one of the tables all by himself is a large warrior dressed in plate mail. The group last saw him as they fled the second level of the tower as the man was heading in their direction. The group suspects that it was he who single-handedly killed the chimera they found dead on that level. Noticing their presence, the man lifts his tankard and gives a slight nod of recognition to Tyra and Lani. He then continues to watch the group as he drinks from his goblet.

KC: in the tavern after seeing the warrior, "we should go sit down."

TYRA: Noting the warrior to Lani, "Looks like he might be open to a friendly meeting. Let's check with the others but I'm really curious to hear his story."

GM: The man is sitting at a table with four chairs. He is occupying one leaving three empty chairs. Those with good interpersonal skills might suggest that he is more interested in Tyra and Lani because of their feminine charms than anything else.

LANI: "Yeah but we should probably just have a couple of us approach him."

SYL (OOC): She has Charisma of 22 and the Character Judgement/Conversation skills so she will lead Lani and Tyra over to the man and ask him if we may join him and order him a drink?

TYRA: "Okay, how about three of us go over? I was thinking Syl, Barnas and me or do you think we should leave one of the potion drinkers to stay with the rest of the group?"

The group briefly discusses and decides that Barnas, Syl and Tyra will approach the man while the rest of the group sits at a nearby table that is not entirely out of earshot of conversations that are not overly quiet.

When Tyra reaches the table with the large man, she asks, "Do you mind if a couple of us join you?"

The man simply nods his acceptance indicating the empty chairs. Barnas takes the chair opposite the man while Tyra sits to his left and Syl takes the chair to the man's right. The rest of the group takes an adjacent round table that has five chairs. They shrug off their backpacks and prop them on the floor against their chairs where they can keep a watchful eye on them. A waitress arrives and takes their orders.

"Why did you run when I saw you in the tower near my chambers?" the large warrior asks, directing his question towards Tyra.

TYRA: "We weren't sure who to trust in the tower. We surmised that you were the one defeating the various monsters we encountered and didn't want to risk a confrontation if we could help it. So you live in the Citadel of Fire?"

ALOMAR: "A suitable answer," the man replies. "You should not trust anyone in the tower. My name is Alomar Rotakis. I was - and I guess I still am - the wizard's champion though the wizard is now known as the Beast Maker and is not who he once was. What do you seek in the tower?"

BARNAS: "A way home. Orcs were attacking a city we were in through a portal near the tower. We came through to shut it down, and we ended up on the wrong side. We had no interest in attacking the whole Orc nation. The tower was our best option to get away. We knew nothing of the tower or your master or the situation before we got there."

GM: It's not necessary to play out the whole conversation if you so choose. You can just let me know what it is you are willing to communicate and what information you hope to receive.

BARNAS: How much we share will depend on how much we come to trust him... Is Character Judgment a roll you want to make behind the scene or do you want me to roll it?

SYL: We were told that the Crystal Wand that the Beast Maker has/had might be a way for us to return home, but we never found it. Do you know of a way to get to SpellJammer space?

GM: I will go ahead and make Character Judgment rolls when you have interacted with him enough to get a better sense of where he stands.

GM: Also, not sure if Syl is deliberately misstating facts in her conversation with Alomar, but wanted to remind the group that you have already found the piece of the Crystal Wand and right now are really just looking for a way to get back to your Spelljammer.

SYL: not prevaricating just forgetful...

ALOMAR: "Aye, the Beast Maker does, or did, have the piece of the Crystal Wand. At one time he sought the entire wand but I believe he gave up on that desire long ago. I don't believe I've heard anything that would leave me to believe that the piece of the Crystal Wand that the Beast Maker has would provide a means of transporting you anywhere. I recall that it was largely useless without the rest of the wand."

SYL: If the wand itself can’t help us, maybe finding it lead us to you and Solar? If so, do you know if there is a means to travel back to our home here or can someone/something here lead us?

TYRA: Tyra doesn't want to reveal everything but she will be honest. Explaining our story of how we got there and that we're just looking for a way home is first. Any information he can provide that might help us would be ideal. Perhaps he can introduce us to others that we should seek out. Our augury did mention to go to the pooping toad and we haven't gotten that far yet. That suggests there's something we should seek out there. It could also be that just getting to this village was good enough for our current step in the journey.

TYRA: Tyra would like to hear more about this village and what is beyond. What is the story with all these travelers from all over the place?

ALOMAR: "I have not been through the other exit from Solar though I have tried. I am told that it leads to a healer and, beyond the healer, a graveyard. I once heard a riddle or poem associated with what is beyond the other portal. The riddle goes thus,

Beyond your graves the ghouls await,
The celebrant saves your earthly fate.
The mourners join with leaps of glee,
To fill the graves and set you free."

ALOMAR: "As for a way back to your home, I know of no riddles or artifact that would lead you there but I am constrained to descend no further. Perhaps a means can be found in the deeper levels below the citadel but there too is where the Beast Maker is said to lurk, though to what purpose I do not know."

GM: Those at the other table can hear this conversation without difficulty. Some have probably turned to face Alomar to better listen. If someone there has a question for the wizard's champion, feel free to voice it. You do not need to have drunk from the magical language potion to understand Alomar as he is speaking in the common tongue.

BARNAS: The young man pulls out a notebook and records the riddle... maybe it will come in handy later.

BARNAS: "We did ponder the possibility of try to help free the Beast Maker. Yes we want to get back, but we were willing to try help was just that we didn't know were to start or even if we could."

ALOMAR: "What do you seek to free the Beast Maker from," Alomar asks sardonically. "His evil ways?"

BARNAS: The young man tilted his head abit, "Hmm perhaps we were mistaken or misinformed then... Because we thought he current status was the result of an accident or curse."

BARNAS: At a different place in the conversation Barnas asks if Alomar can tell him much about Finn.

ALOMAR: "I had heard that one of the apprentices had come upon a stray dog, which seems odd and unlikely to be a coincidence. However, I know nothing about him."

BARNAS: "I see.... Thank you."

SHAARILLA: Shaarilla will come over and apologize for throwing food in his room when she tried to feed his cute miniature Dragon. The miniature Dragon ignored the food, so it ended up on the floor.

ALOMAR: Alomar finds this somewhat amusing and says that the food will probably be gone by the time he gets back as the dragon will almost certainly eat it. He then confesses that he has never met a Myyrrhn before and starts asking about her culture.
