MORTY: Morty doesn't hesitate to announce what he knows, though his voice is still not particularly loud and doesn't carry well. "Zombies and Skeletons, the ones that are all bone are skeletons, bashing weapons work best. Zombies have more flesh on them, slashing weapons work better. I've got another zombie approaching down this corridor, I'll lead him to you."

MORTY (GM): Do I know any more? Is one type more lethal than the other? Get more attacks? I assume the skeletons don't have weapons or armor?


GM: Morty does not see any skeletons. All he sees are zombies.

GM: Sorry, I should clarify. Being that the group is comprised of low level adventurers right now, I am trying to emphasize the fog of war aspect of this battle. Each character is aware only of what is going on around them. Yes, you are hearing other sounds of fighting and assume that there are more undead around but you have no idea who is fighting who. The natural inclination is to believe that everyone is fighting the same types of undead.


BarnasBARNAS: The young cleric had never been a fighter. On the prior adventure it had been all he could do to avoid getting hit until the others could handle things. He saw no reason for that to change now. So he was more surprised then anyone when he landed a solid blow.

BARNAS: "Haha! I hit the thing. Heheh"

BARNAS: Part of him realized this must be how the fighter in the group felt, no wonder they liked it. He decided to try to do it again

KCKC: round 1 held action close with zombie 1 and help Lani take it out.

KC: round 2 attack the zombie that Lani has attracted the attention of with his new shiny +1 daggers.

MortyMORTY TECH: Morty will backpedal toward the group at best safe speed, probably 5 foot free moves. He will fire again at his target, while doing his best to prepare his shield to deflect the enemy's blows. Init: [rolled 8], To-hit [rolled 95-54 = 41 - Hit DEF 41 or less], [rolled 3 6 3 (+3)- Total: 15] dmg.
LaniLANI: Her confidence boosted by her first blows with the undead, she decides to use weapons kata.

ShaarillaSHAARILLA: Realizing that she was as likely to hit a friend than an enemy, and considering that her arrows wouldn’t do much against bones any way, Shaarilla moves away from the skelitons and towards the wall where the zombies are attacking, looking for a spot where she can get a clear shot.

SHAARILLA: Attack Zombie with Short Bow

Attack 1, Init [rolled 4], Strike Chance [rolled 70-14 = 56 - Hit DEF 56 or less], DMG [rolled 4], Threat [rolled 25]


SHAARILLA: I had entered this incorrectly, using skillroll-20 instead of skillroll+20 So the roll below should’ve been a result of 96 (Near Success), not 56 (Failure).

SHAARILLA: Everything lore [rolled 56 (Failure)]
SylSYL: Did not have much success at her first attempt, but will continue to attack, switching to stabbing to see if she has nay better luck with that.

Any Lore (10) - [rolled 23]

TECH: Init [rolled 4], SC [rolled 70-15 = 55 - Hit DEF 55 or less], Damage [rolled 7], Threat [rolled 28]
TyraTYRA: "Ugh," exclaims the warrior maiden as she realizes her club isn't as effective as it should be against these creatures. "Oh, why couldn't I have a war axe handy!" She continues to fight on the best she can, using more measured tactics.

TECH: Normal Attack - Init: [rolled 12], Attack: [rolled 87-37 = 50 - Hit DEF 50 or less], Damage [rolled 10], Threat: [rolled 80]

Barnas misses the undead. Fortunately the undead misses him as well.

KC and Lani gang up on their foe. KC hits with his dagger while Lani hits with both mace and fist. Bot of her attacks lose some power as they bounce off the creature. The undead hits Lani for 5 damage, reduced to 2 damage after PROT.

Martin and Syl gang up on their opponent. Both of them hit but their attacks are less effective than they might otherwise be as their bladed weapons don't do much damage to these very bony undead.

Morty backs into the room and stops near Tyra. He fires his second of three shots and hits for 15 damage. The undead hits Morty for 8 damage, minus 1 for PROT, comes to 7 damage.

Shaarilla backs away and the creature follows. She now realizes that it is a skeleton and her bow is almost useless against it. Even blades are of reduced effect. She needs to have Barnas, Lani or Tyra fighting it with their crushing weapons. She manages to hit the creature with a shot but does almost no damage. Unfortunately, the creature hits her for 9 damage, reduced to 7 from her PROT.

Tyra sees both Morty and another undead coming around the pillar next to her. The undead is focused on Morty and, as she watches, it hits him cruelly. Tyra changes her target to attack Morty's foe and hits. But again, her blow is robbed of much power by the cushioning effect of the bloody but useless organs and flesh still attached to the zombie.

GM: Shaarilla recognizes that her foe is a skeleton. Morty recognizes that his foe and Tyra's foes are both zombies. Morty knows that zombies are better fought with slashing weapons while skeletons should be attacked with crushing weapons.

GM: Go ahead and send your round 3 attacks.
