The death axe is a +2 Battle Axe made of black metal with a black metal handle. Any time the wielder deals a killing blow (i.e., a blow that reduces the target to 0 or fewer hit points) against a living target, they are healed 1d8 hit points (1's are not rerolled).
For the purposes of this weapon, demons, devils, elementals, golems, insects, slimes and undead are not considered living targets. If the target regenerates (e.g., trolls) then the wielder will not gain the healing.
The healing works even if the wielder is not a living target.
If the target is dealt a killing blow on the same initiative that someone else also strikes and deals a killing blow, there is a 50/50 chance that the blow was dealt by the Death Axe and the wielder will gain the healing. |
