This enchanted grass is a boon for horses. It has all of the vital ingredients, both roughage and grains, to keep any type of horse healthy. It is not seasonal and grows in all manner of climates. Sturdy though it is, it is very fickle about how it is grown. It grows in the wild just fine but if a farmer, or anyone else, tries to harvest seeds to grow elsewhere, or transplant a whole plant, it rarely, if ever, flourishes in its new environment.
When horses graze the plant, it quickly recovers so a given patch is measured in how many horses it can feed. In general, a patch that can, say, feed 20 horses, will always be able to feed 20 or less horses. If more than 20 horses graze on the patch, the patch will continue to recover but not fast enough to keep the horses fed by itself.
The grass is a vibrant purple in color and grows to a height of several feet above the surface. This could be the sandy surface of the desert, the rocky surface of a mountain canyon, or the snow-covered surface of a high drift of snow. |
