This thick, heavy rod is made of dark brown cocobolo wood and capped with metal plates at both ends. One end of the rod has been scored in a diamond pattern to create a comfortable, non-slip handle.

By itself, the rod functions as a normal war club (SC 50, 1d8 damage). If the target of an attack is capable of feeling pain, then a charge is automatically drained from the rod and the target suffers 3d6 non-lethal (NL) damage. The target also suffers a pain modifier for all future actions for the next 1d6 rounds equal to half the amount rolled, rounded down.

For example, if a human target is hit in combat, he suffers damage normally (1d8 base damage, plus any bonuses for strength, rank, etc.). In addition, one charge is drained from the rod and the target suffers an additional 3d6 NL damage. If, for example, 11 was rolled, the target suffers 11 points of NL damage and suffers a -5 to all action for then next 1d6 rounds.

Note that the pain is inflicted even if the target's PROT negates the normal damage.

The rod cannot be recharged. When the final charge is used, the rod crumbles to dust.
