The magical properties of this enchanted cloak are caused by the distortion and warping of light waves. The properties are:
- Displacement - The wearer always seems to appear 1 to 2 feet from where they actually are. Any missile or melee attack aimed at the wearer automatically misses the first time. This can apply to first attacks from multiple opponents only if the second and successive attackers were unable to observe the initial displacement miss. This applies only to those who use sight as their primary targeting sense. It does not apply to undead.
- Defense - The wearer gains a +10 to Defense due to the displacement. This applies only to those who use sight as their primary targeting sense. It does not apply to undead.
- Saving Throws - The wearer gains a bonus of +10 to saving throws versus magical attacks, such as targeted spells, gaze weapon attacks, spitting and breath attacks, etc., which are aimed at the wearer of the cloak of displacement. This does not apply to mental attacks or non-ranged attacks.
Note that 75% of all cloaks of displacement are sized for humans or elves (persons 5 to 6 feet tall), and 25% are sized for persons of about 4 feet in height (dwarves, gnomes, halflings). |
