This magical helm is dark gray, almost black, in color and styled to look like a bat. It provides the following mental benefits:
- Passive Sonar - The attuned wearer can target anyone within (MA x 2) feet by sound alone. This ability can be thwarted by a Silence spell or effect. This ability can "see" invisible creatures with ease.
- Active Sonar - The attuned wearer can cause a high-pitched sound to be emitted that will bounce off of solid objects up to (MA x 5) feet away. Those with ultra sonic hearing (such as canines and many other animals) will hear the sound as a series of pings lasting (MA x 1) rounds. The wearer can target opponents, even invisible ones, with this ability for as long as it lasts.
- Discriminatory - At half range or less for both of the above effects (MA x 1 feet for passive sonar and MA x 2.5 feet for active sonar), the ability allows the wearer to distinguish fine details to the point where he can tell one person from another with a 2x PER roll or less. Beyond this range, or if the PER roll is failed, they only see general outlines.
- Protection - Provides +1 to PROT for those wearing armor.
