This is a very thin book where most of the thickness is taken up by the binding. It has only a few blank pages.
When a magic item is placed on the book, opened to blank pages, sentences will appear on the page that give cryptic clues as to what the item will do. For example, a +1 ring of protection placed on the blink pages may cause one of the following sentences to appear briefly.
- “What is worn becomes a shield without weight.”
- “It guards not by standing before, but by never leaving.”
- “A circle remembers what blades forget.”
- “The blow falters, though nothing intervenes.”
