One of the many fabled rings of fantasy legend, the "genie'' ring is most useful indeed, for it is a special "gate'' by means of which a certain djinni can be summoned from the elemental plane of Air. When the ring is rubbed, the summons is served, and the djinni will appear on the next round. The djinni will faithfully obey and serve the wearer of the ring, but if the servant of the ring is ever killed, the ring becomes nonmagical and worthless. One in 10 of these rings summons a more powerful djinni who is capable of granting up to 3 wishes. Each time a wish is used, there is a 30% cumulative chance that the ring will vanish and reappear at a new location, which will be at least 1000 miles distant. Thus, if a first wish is requested and granted, there is a 30% chance that the ring will disappear. This increases to 60% after the second wish. It will definitely disappear after the third wish. |
