There are numerous versions of a Lexicon of Knowledge and Skill and each one teaches a different skill. A Lexicon will always appear to be written in the native language of the reader. Reading a Lexicon of Knowledge and Skill will allow some to either learn a new skill or improve an existing skill of which they had some knowledge. The reader must spend 35 hours reading the book and practicing the lessons provided. This may require that the character purchase or otherwise acquire implements of the skills as determined by the GM. For example, to use a lexicon that teaches the character how to play the flute, the character will need to procure a flute.
Upon completion of the book, the character will be raised to rank 7 with the skill for which the book pertains. If the character is already rank 7 or higher, they gain no benefit from the book, and will realize this within a couple of hours of study. When the book is complete, it will turn to dust.
A continuing effect of the Lexicon of Knowledge and Skill is that the experience point multiple for the skill will be .75. If the character already has a .75 multiple, or less, for the skill, they gain no additional benefit from the lexicon.
Training Time
The character must spend 35 hours reading, training and practicing but how many hours they can push themselves each day depends on their INT and WP.
