This magical helm is made of burnished steel and treated leather. The helm comes to a peak at the top of the head but the sides are open so hearing is not obstructed. Metal plates lined with leather come down in front of the ear while, behind the ears, the metal comes does almost to the neck. The interior is lined with leather and is adjustable to fit most, human, dwarven or elven heads. It has the following powers:
- +2 Protection - The helm provides +2 Protection that stacks only with armor (see Stacking rules)
- Comprehend Languages - Up to two times per day, for (MA x 4) minutes each, the character can fluently understand spoken and written languages. This ability does not allow the character to speak the language but, using this power of the helm, he can learn new languages very quickly if in the presence of those speaking the language to be learned.
- Reading Magic - Up to two times per day, for (MA / 3) minutes each, the character can read magical writings, including magical scrolls. This allows the character to use magical scrolls.
- Psionic Battle Charm - The helm functions as a +1 Psionic Battle Charm.
