Acid Bane was created using Oterrud's Compact (q.v.). The Ochre Blade (q.v.) was sacrificed to improve an existing +3 morning star. The result is Acid Bane, a spiked weapon of dark metal streaked with runnels of ochre, green and black.
- Magic Weapon - Acid Bane is a +3 Morning Star that is +4 vs slime creatures such as black puddings, green slimes, gray oozes, etc.. This bonus is also applied to creatures that naturally use gas or acid as a weapon, such as black and green dragons.
- Acid Proof - The weapon will automatically save if it comes into contact with a creature or substance that would normally cause the weapon to decay. This includes Black Puddings, Green Slimes and any sort of acid.
- Protection from Acid - The wielder gains a +15 to all saving throws vs. acid, and takes half damage from acid attacks including Black Pudding attacks as well as the acid attacks of black dragons. Against creatures such as Black Puddings, the damage is halved after armor protection is taken into account as there is no save allowed. The wielder's armor and other worn equipment gains a +3 bonus (on d20 item save tables) if struck by a black pudding or other acidic substance that requires an item saving throw.
