This large container is usually fashioned from blue or green semi-precious stone (malachite or lapis lazuli, for example, or sometimes jade). It is about one foot in diameter, half that deep, and relatively fragile. When the bowl is filled with fresh or salt water, and certain words are spoken, a medium sized water elemental. The summoning words require one round to speak.
The elemental will remain under the control of the summoner for as long as the summoner maintains concentration. If concentration lapses, it cannot be regained and the elemental will seek to attack the summoner, to the exclusion of everything else.
If the summoner is attacked (by spell, melee attack, ranged attack, etc.), they must make a Mental save to retain concentration. The save is made at -1 per 3 hit points of damage (or fraction thereof) suffered.
The summoner can dismiss the elemental back to its own plane of existance at will.
