By means of this spell, the cleric consecrates a room, not larger than 500 square feet, as a healing sanctuary. The room must be restfully arranged. A bedroom or small lounge is ideal as long as there are comfortable places for people to sit or lay down and rest. It cannot be a room where the cleric would feel inherently uncomfortable, such as the scene of a recent battle or a temple of another god.

While in the healing sanctuary, healing spells and effects tend to work better. In game terms, the player can roll twice for each healing effect and take the better roll. This affects curative spells, healing potions, healing scrolls, etc., as long as there is a random determination of the amount of healing. The duration of the sanctuary is 1 hour and the cleric and those who benefit from the effect must remain in the sanctuary for the entire duration to gain the effects. The healing effects should only be rolled when the healing sanctuary ends or when the character leaves early. If rolled because the character left early, the healing effect is resolved normally. If rolled after the healing sanctuary ends, the benefit is gained and two rolls are made for the healing effect, with the better of the two representing the true healing effect of the spell, potion, scroll, etc.
