At cast level 1, the ranger learns the direction to the nearest foot path or road within range (1/4 mile per cast level). If nothing is within range, he gets no result. There is a 10% chance (+5% per cast level) that he will gain additional information such as exact distance, terrain between here and there, path usage, etc. If he makes a successful roll, then he can try again to gain additional information but the next roll is at -10%. He can keep trying as long as he keeps succeeding but each roll is at a successive -10% (-10 on second roll, -20 on third roll, -40 on fourth roll, etc.).
Range increases to 1 mile per cast level at cast level 10 and higher. |
