This rune can be cast on a shield. The shield can then be commanded to ascend or descend vertically in the air. The size of the shield will determine how much weight it can hold.

Speed of ascent/descent is a factor of rank and is equal to 10 (+ rank) feet per round. Thus, at rank 10, the shield can ascend/descend at 20 feet per round.
The shield can levitate for a maximum of 20 minutes per rank and can used as often as desired until the duration ends or until the 20 minutes per rank is used up. For example, Runic the Rune Mage casts this ritual at rank 10 on his large round shield. Duration is 10 days but, over the course of the first 5 days, he uses the levitation ability for a total of 200 minutes. Thus, the levitation ability is used up in only 5 days. |
