The mage may throw a single bolt of lightning, 10 feet wide, that originates from his fingertips and extends the entire range of the spell. If the bolt hits a solid object, it will rebound if there is any range left on the bolt. The mage may choose to create a bolt that is shorter than his rank would normally allow, but damage will also be reduced. For example, a rank 12 caster could normally create a 60 foot long bolt that causes 12d6 damage. He could choose to only create a 45 foot long bolt, but damage would only be 9d6. All targets in the path of the bolt suffer 1d6 damage per rank, or half if a magic save is made. |
