The mage may use this ritual to summon and bind the Greater Undead if he remains stationary within a pentagram drawn in or near an area where Greater Undead may habitually be found (near tombs, graveyards, barrows, etc.). The mage and his companions must remain within the circle of protection during the entire course of the ritual. They may take no other action while the ritual is taking place. The ritual lasts two hours. If successful, the spell summons 1 Greater Undead per 7 ranks, or fraction thereof, and subjects them to the will of the summoner for the duration of the ritual. If the ritual backfires, the undead arrive and attack the mage. Once the duration ends or the mage releases the Undead, they may attack him and his companions. Exactly what undead appear is up to the GM and depends on the circumstances and the rank of the caster.
The table below shows typical undead by level and the minimum rank needed to summon each level of undead. Note that the table is a general guideline. There are lesser vampires that are equivalent to wights or wraiths with regard to undead level and there are greater vampires that are equivalent to Liches.
