The mage can cast this spell on himself to allow him to walk through, or meld with, solid stone. The recipient of the spell melds into a stone surface, leaving no trace of his entry (except for some residual magic that will be visible for 2 minutes after entering). He can move at a TMR equal to rank (i.e., TMR 5 at rank 5, TMR 12 at rank 12, etc.) or he can remain in place for the duration. The recipient will "feel" that the duration of the spell is about to end 1 round before it does and can attempt to exit the stone. If the recipient is still inside the stone when the duration ends, he is forcibly evicted, and suffers 2d6 damage per foot to the closest exit. The duration of the spell is 2 rounds per rank, but the duration will automatically end when the recipient steps out of a stone surface, even if there would otherwise be some duration remaining. However, there is nothing to prevent the mage from casting the spell, and then waiting several rounds before stepping into a stone surface. Note also that this spell does not provide any sort of direction sense or means of perception while in the stone. However, if the mage knows the Granite Window spell, he may cast that to see ahead of himself and the window will move with him, remaining at face level as the caster moves through the stone. One final note is that if the mage has some means of teleportation, he can safely teleport into a solid stone surface if this spell is active at the time of the teleport.
