The mage is able to open a pair of extra-dimensional "holes", one next to the mage and one at any location that the mage can see. At rank 1, the holes are visible as black spots floating in the air or seemingly attached to an object, wall, etc. As rank improves, the visible aspect becomes less and less noticeable until, at rank 12 and higher, the holes are invisible to normal sight (but visible to spells such as Detect Invisible). Note that the caster is always able to see the holes and can choose to have one or both of the holes fully visible at all times though this decision must be made when the spell is cast.
The mage can peer into the nearby hole and see events that transpire around the distant hole. The distant hole fashions as a remote eye that the caster can turn this way and that to see all around. The holes cannot move once cast. |
