By means of this spell, the wizard enables the recipient to see in normal darkness up to 30 (+5/rank) feet without light. Note that strong sources of light (fire, lanterns, torches, etc.) tend to blind this vision, so infravision does not function efficiently in the presence of such light sources. Invisible creatures are not detectable by infravision.
The target also has a chance of identifying heat sources. His skill roll for this is equal to ((PER - 15) x 3) + (Rank x 5).
Roll | Result |
Absolute Success | Can clearly classify 1d4+1 heat sources with this one roll. |
Success | Can clearly classify the heat source if seen before. This allows the target to specifically identify a person he has seen before with infravision. |
Near Success | Can classify the heat source by specific type (e.g., human female, dwarven male, etc.) |
Partial Success | Can classify the heat source by general type (e.g., human or elf, dwarf, gnome or halfling, etc.) |
Failure | Sees the heat source but can classify only at the broadest level (e.g., by rough size) |
Absolute Failure | Sees the heat source but can't classify |
Blunder | As Absolute Failure |
