This spell creates a duplicate of a human, demihuman, or humanoid creature. This clone is in most respects the duplicate of the individual, complete to the skills levels, spells (if applicable), profession, memories, etc. However, the duplicate really is the person, so if the original and a duplicate exist at the same time, each knows of the other's existence; the original person and the clone will each desire to do away with the other, for such an alter-ego is unbearable to both. If one cannot destroy the other, one will go insane and destroy itself (90% likely to be the clone), or possibly both will become mad and destroy themselves (2% chance). These events nearly always occur within one week of the dual existence.

Note that the clone is the person as he existed at the time at which the flesh was taken for the spell component, and all subsequent knowledge, experience, etc., is totally unknown to the clone. The clone is a physical duplicate, and possessions of the original are another matter entirely.

A clone is rarely a perfect copy of the target and that fact is represented by "flaws" in the clone that reduce as the mage gains experience with this spell. The number of flaws that a given clone has is equal to 13, minus the caster's rank with this spell (12 flaws at rank 1, 11 at rank 2, down to 3 flaws at rank 10. Critical success with this spell reduces the number of flaws by 1 while grievous success reduces it by 3. The exact form of the flaws is up to the GM. The GM may use flaws from the character generation rules or introduce his own, such as persistent sickness (low CON), partial blindness, etc. For any given flaw, there is a 5% chance that it will be a fatal or very significant flaw that may cause the clone to die on its own in a short time. The GM will be the final arbitrar of such flaws.

The material component of the spell is a small piece of the flesh from the person to be duplicated, and 1,000 silver worth of crushed rubies. The spell takes 6 hours to cast and requires 30 spell points (it is really more of an arcane ritual than a spell).
