When this spell is cast, the subject's hands widen and his fingernails thicken and grow, becoming equivalent in size and power to the iron-like claws of an umber hulk. The transformation takes one full round and is excruciatingly painful, causing 3d6 damage and a system shock roll. If the roll is made, the damage is non-lethal. Otherwise it is considered lethal damage.
The subject can burrow as an umber hulk, cutting through 1 foot of solid stone or 6 feet of soil per minute. The only limitation to this is the subject's stamina; burrowing is tiring and causes 3d6 NL damage every 10 minutes.
Burrowing through soil does not necessarily create a passable tunnel as the dirt will collapse behind the target. If the subject wishes to make a passage in which others can travel or that he can exit when the spell ends, his burrowing rate is reduced to 3 feet per minute (instead of 6 feet per minute). Cutting a tunnel through solid rock does not require extra care or time.
The recipient of this spell can use the claws with Unarmed Combat skill, causing 2d6+1 base damage, plus bonuses for STR and rank. |
