The spell allows the caster to feel the emotions and physical sensations the target of the spell is currently experiencing. It also allows the caster to absorb wounds at a rate of 2 points for every one the caster agrees to subtract from his own hit point total. Thus the caster could remove 6 points damage from a character by inflicting 3 points on himself.
The mage can absorb at maximum 2 points per rank. For example, a rank 5 mage could heal a maximum of 10 points by taking 5 points of damage on himself.
With Critical Success, the caster can either reduce the amount taken by 50% or increase the amount healed by 50%. For Grievous Success, he can do both.
There are some limitations with this type of healing. It cannot be used to restore blood loss. It will also not heal a grievous injury though, if the spell is used on someone who has suffered a grievous injury, the mage will suffer the same results. For example, the mage casts this spell on someone who suffered a grievous injury result of "Strike Breaks foes Knee. Foe falls prone and is unable to stand. Although he may parry at -20." The spell heals no damage (even if the target had other damage besides the grievous injury) and the mage suffers the same grievous injury (broken knee). |
