This ritual creates a stationary field that completely prevents any GK or SK translocation based spells from working within its radius of 5 feet per rank. Spells affected include Blink, Dimension Door, & Teleport (including spell effects, natural abilities, or magic items that replicate these spells). It functions against any source, even the caster himself, so caution is advised.
The Anti-Teleportation Field is difficult to dispel. A dispel magic or counterspell used against it must attempt to overcome it as if the original caster is 6 ranks higher than he actually was at the time of its creation (the creator of the field is always successful at dispelling his own magic however). An active Anti-teleportation Field glows with a faint blue aura in the absence of other illumination.
This spell has no effect on Arcane translocation spells or effects. The material component is a 1000 sp blue sapphire, which is consumed upon being successfully cast. This spell is often used by the rich & powerful to ward places such as throne rooms, treasuries, & such. It can be made permanent by other types of Permanency magic. Magical Resistance can resist the effects of this spell, but only at half efficiency. It has no effect on gates or permanent portals.
Rumor has it there is a rare, arcane version of this spell that is effective on arcane translocation magics. |
