The spell causes diamond tipped javelins to fly from the earth at the casters feet and travel toward a target(s) of the casters choice. One javelin appears per 2 ranks with this spell (i.e., 1 at ranks 0-2, 2 at ranks 3-4, 3 at ranks 5-6, etc.). Base chance to hit is 30%, +3% per rank. Defense is halved against these swiftly flying missiles and Magic resistance does not apply. Javelin damage is 1d10 (+0 at ranks 0-4, +1 at ranks 5-8, +2 at ranks 9-12, etc.). For the purpose of affecting creatures that require magic weapons, the bonus to damage is considered to be the "plus" of the weapon.

The damage is considered to be armor piercing in that the target only gets half of their Protection (or all of the Lack of Weakness, whichever is higher).

This spell has a minimum range of 10 feet.

Note that if targeted at melee combatants, the javelins follow the same rules as arrows for possibly hitting a friend vs opponent.

The caster must be standing on natural earth or stone, or on a floor that is made of earth or stone and is in direct contact with natural earth for this spell to work. Thus he could cast it if standing on a marble floor of a temple provided that natural earth is directly under the floor. The spell will not work if cast from the upper floors of a building, or even the first floor if there is a basement directly underneath. It will work from the first floor if there are dungeons underneath that are deeper than a typical basement (i.e., there is natural earth between the bottom floor and the dungeon). The spell will work if standing on relatively natural ground, whether it is grass, sand, rock or dirt.
