This spell detects the presence of magic. Unlike "burning a point" and using Power Perception, this spell cannot tell the mage anything about the magic that is detected other than the general shape. For example, if there is a ward across a passageway, this spell will sense a "wall" of magic that blocks the passage. If the ward is only 10 feet high, and the passage is 20 feet high, this spell will detect the 10 foot gap above the ward. The mage cannot sense the power of the magic or gain any insights about the nature or type of magic.
