This spell creates a barrier of very tough, pliable, green tangled brush bearing needle-sharp thorns as long as a person's finger. Anyone impacting upon a Wall of Thorns will suffers 2d6 damage, +1d6 per 4 ranks, but armor protection reduces this damage. The caster can create two 10 foot cubes, plus 1 additional 10 foot cube per rank and have them arranged in any order as long as the entire wall is within range. It cannot be cast upon another creature, but can be used to trap them.
The wall can be cut through with appropriate tools (axe, sword, etc) but the person trying to cut through must do 15 + rank points of damage to create a 1 foot deep, man-sized passage into the "wall". For example, to cut through a 10 foot thick section of wall that was cast at rank 5, the person must do a total of 200 points of damage to carve a man-sized path through 10 feet of wall.
This spell can only be cast on a natural surface of rock or dirt. The barrier will grow out of the surface and be anchored to it. |
