By means of a Cocoon spell, the mage is able to place a creature in a state of suspended animation by wrapping them in a cocoon. This spell may only be cast on an unresisting target. After spending one round of preparation (casting time), the target is wrapped in a thin layer of silky threads that will last for 1 minute per rank. The caster has the option of continuing to wrap more threads to lengthen the duration of the spell, as indicated by the table below.
Casting Time Duration
1 minute 1 hour
2 minutes 1 day
3 minutes 3 days
4 minutes 6 days
5 minutes 15 days
6 minutes * 1 month
7 minutes * 3 months
8 minutes * 6 months
9 minutes * 1 year
10 minutes * Indefinitely
* Requires material component of caterpillar cocoon.
As more time is spent wrapping the target, the cocoon becomes more and more rigid. At six minutes or longer, the cocoon is rigid enough that it will not bend and something more than a knife will be needed to open it. |
