By use of this spell, the wizard is able to confer virtual immunity to certain spells and magical attack forms upon those he touches. The mage can protect up to 1 person per rank but the duration is divided evenly among all those protected. For example, a rank 4 mage could protect 1 person for 6 hours, 2 people for 3 hours, 3 people for 2 hours or 4 people for 90 minutes.

The protection gives a bonus to saving throws, according to spell type and level, as shown in the following table.

With regard to Arcane spells, this spell will allow the target a magic save against Arcane spells where none is normally allowed. For example, Power Word, Stun and Power Word, Blind do not normally allow saving throws but, if the target has this spell cast upon them, they are allowed a save equal to the bonus granted by this spell.
