The mage can teleport a single object weighing not more than (Level x 2) pounds to his hand or the ground within 5 feet of him. The object cannot be a living creature though it could be a plant. It can also be a single object that contains other objects, so long as the combined weight is not greater than the spell limits. If the object is something that belongs to the mage, and has been handled by him within the last (Level x 2) hours, he gains a +20 to his cast chance. If the object is in the possession of another creature, the mages suffers a -20 to his cast chance. The spell will only work on objects that the mage has physically handled in the past.
It is up to the GM to decide if "gray area" items successfully teleport. For example, if the mage wanted to teleport a large gem that was set into a throne, the GM would probably disallow it unless the setting was weak and someone with normal strength could easily pull the gem loose. The primary constraint of this spell should be the weight limit so if the mage wanted to teleport a pile of loose change that was within his weight limit, the GM is encouraged to allow it even though it is not a "single object". The spell cannot be used to "steal" objects that belong to other people unless the caster has previously handled the objects.
The spell cannot teleport something that is enclosed in a magical barrier or protected by a Circle of Protection from Detection. |
