| The single person or object over which this spell is cast gains a +2 per rank of caster to saves against gas attacks. This includes gas attacks that cause direct damage, such as the clorine gas attack of a green dragon, or gas attacks that cause nausea or retching, such as Noxious Vapors. In the case of damage attacks, 1 is subtracted from the damage per rank of the caster. Note that this protection is applied after the save is resolved. For example, someone with a rank 5 Protection from Gas is hit with the breath weapon of a green dragon for 30 points. The rank 5 spell provides 5 protection from the attack. If the save is made, the target suffers 10 damage ((30 / 2) - 5). If the save is failed, the target suffers 25 damage (30 - 5). |
