The mage creates a horrifying watery vortex with a diameter of 2 feet per rank which exists entirely within the spells range. All objects and entities within the vortex must attempt a magic save. If the save is failed, they suffer 1d4 damage per rank and are sucked into the vortex and down to the sea bottom. Those who save suffer half damage and are thrown out of the maelstrom 5d6+10 feet in a random direction.
All those within 10 feet must save or they get sucked towards the vortex and take 1d4 damage per two ranks. Those who save take half damage and are not sucked towards the vortex but, if they are still in the area the following round, they must make another save. Those who fail their save must make a second Magic Save or they are sucked down also.
This spell will only be effective if cast over a large body of water (sea, ocean, or large lake).
Those sucked down can attempt to swim to the surface if they have the appropriate skills and are not weighted down with heavy packs and armor. |
