The time comes to depart the kurabanda home and head towards the reputed pirate base to the east. For the first part of the journey through the bachanda forest, the group will have a kurabanda escort consisting of the same five kurabanda they first encountered, led by Lomonada.

The going is slow and Lomonada does not lead the group directly towards the pirate base, but instead heads in the southeasterly direction. He tells the group that a scouting group of kurabanda found something strange at the edge of the bachanda forest and he would like the group to take a look. It is only a slight detour in the direction of the pirate base.

It takes two days to reach it. The kurabanda by themselves could have reached it and been well on their way home by themselves but are slowed by the "clumsy" humans and their ungainly robot.

GM: Please come up with a name or something for the Carry-All Robot. Otherwise I am going to start calling it Carrie. :)

The robot certainly does well navigating the limb paths of the giant trees - for a robot - but is still slower than humans would be on their own.

Nevertheless, late in the icy cold afternoon of the second day, the group reaches the edge of the bachanda forest. Lomonada leads the way down to ground level and shows the group a small clearing just inside the forest. In the clearing are a pair of storage containers, each about the size of a overly large footlocker. The group looks them over carefully and determines that they were likely a cache for the pirates that the group battled in the trees a couple of weeks ago.

The group begins to go through the containers. They mostly contain food and camping equipment but the group also finds 2 dozen powerclips. They also find a hardside case containing an automatic rifle along with 5 boxes of ammunition for it, totalling 100 rounds. Clearly none of the pirates had any interest in using such a low-tech weapon.

GM: One thing the group is a bit weak in is ranged weapon skills. Half the group does have ranged weapon skills at rank 3 but the rest have no ranged weapon skills. Those who don't have ranged weapon skills might consider taking a laser pistol (you have plenty of them now) and practicing with them. You now have plenty of powerclips with which to practice. I will mark off some of the powerclips when I know who is going to buy up their beam weapons skill. Similarly, I will mark off some rounds for the Automatic Rifle if someone wants to buy up skill in it. Right now, S'lch is the only one with Projectile Weapons skill.

The group is happy to have modern food again even if it is mostly in the form of rations. There are also a couple bags of flour and tins of maple syrup which would indicate that the pirates liked pancakes.

The group bids farewell to Lomonada and the other kurabanda and then they spend the night at the location of the cache. They replenish their camping gear and supplies and load most of the rest onto the carry-all robot. In the morning, after a breakfast of hotcakes dripping with maple syrup, they strike off east across the icy desert in the direction where Lomonada indicated the pirate base was located.

ALZARIX: He will learn how to shoot a laser pistol (bought rank 1 of weapon: beam) and he is is also okay with heading out towards the pirates base. One other thing that has been on his mind is making a way to recharge out power clips with a portable recharger. Right now that may not be possible b in the future it would be a good idea. I wish I would of thought about this when we were at the escape craft, but that is neither here nor now.

ENSIGN FURY: During the evening, George takes one of the laser pistols and a powerclip and finds a place where he can practice not too far from the camp. He picks out a small boulder about 10 meters away and uses it for target practice. He makes sure the laser pistol is set to its minimum setting and then aims and fires. When he returns, he is disgusted with himself. "My aim hasn't gotten any better," he says. "I was hitting maybe one out of six shots. I'll stick to martial arts and leave the guns to those who have greater affinity for their use."

CARTER: Is in the same boat with George - he will take a pistol and practice with it, but for now he is much, much better with melee weapons.

ALYSON OOC : Hal for the robot.

S'LCH: OOC.The Harragut Autonomous Lifter? As long as it does not call people Dave :)

ALYSON: Alyson says,"I say we take some time here to get our skills worked out. At least with our weapon skills."

ALYSON: Alyson will pick up the rifle and take some ammo. She will make a target range where Laser and rifle can be used.

ALYSON OOC: Alyson had 10 exps she spent enough to get level 2 on the Rifle.

S'LCH: Is the rifle ammo compatible with the pistol? Because if so he is going to make sure he takes plenty of ammo. I am surprised that Alyson did not go laser.

GM: Yes, rifle and pistol ammo is interchangeable in this system.

ALYSON OOC: She picked up already.

ALYSON: Alyson says,"Laser pistol I already know. Since we crashed on this world been picking up weapon skills as we have been moving. Am hoping to find clips for the Gryo Jet pistol I have. Or a replacement for my the rifle I couldn't get off the ship."

MYKEL: Mykel is definitely interested in learning the automatic rifle, and is willing to trade off practice rounds with Alyson. He’s also going to pick up a power pack or two for his laser pistol and do some target practice to sharpen his skills.

CIARA: "I've been thinking I should learn a ranged weapon. Now that we've found more powerclips it seems a good time to start practicing with this laser pistol I picked up a while back." Ciara will ask one of the military types to give her some pointers on using it.

CIARA: Ciara is very pleased with finding normal food supplies and thoroughly enjoyed the pancakes before the group sets out for the base.

ALYSON: Alyson says,"Ciara I can teach you. If you want?"

CIARA: "I'd love that. Thanks."

ALYSON: Alyson says,"Well then lets start." With that she picks up a pistol and pulls out the clip. She says,"Clip goes here. Safety is here. And unlike a slug thrower when you run out of rounds in this thing. The pistol doesn't lock open." She hands Ciara the pistol and clip. She adds,"Your turn. Do not worry I will make sure you do not shoot yourself."

GM: I have a few questions yet before moving on.

1. Who will be carrying the Autorifle?
2. Who will be carrying the Sonic Disruptor?
3. Who will be wearing the Albedo Screen?
4. Who will be wearing the Power Beltpack?

GM: The Power Beltpack should be worn by whoever is carrying the Sonic Disruptor, or wearing the Albedo Screen.

GM: If I don't hear otherwise, I will assume that:

1. S'lch will carry the Autorifle.
2. Mykel will carry the Sonic Disruptor.
3. Alyson will wear the Albedo Screen.
4. Mykel will wear the Power Beltpack (connected to the Sonic Disruptor).

ALYSON OOC: Looks like a good mix. The people with right skills and higher then someone else should be armed with that weapon. If we had any gryo weapons that would be my first pick. Followed by laser pistol and auto rifle.

S'LCH: With the pirate cache was divided up the vrusk was surprised to find that he was the best qualified for the auto rifle. He took some time to do a few test shots to get a feel for it. Then he topped off his rifle and pistol clips.

S'LCH: Even with the knowledge he did not think of him self as a fighter, with the rifle he could engage them far away... Which started him thinking on ways to be effective at a distance.

S'LCH: OOC I know spare parts are limited but he has the optics skill so he will try to pull together a Rifle Scope (S'lch the sniper here we come) and since he knows they are going to check out a pirate base maybe some kind of telescope as well. This is how he keeps busy while traveling when he is not giving commands for his robot drone for scouting
